An Italian architect designed Tigre del Mar to loosely resemble the bow of a ship facing out toward the sea. Three separate buildings make up this oceanfront accommodation: The Tower, The Main Living/Dining Palapa, and Casa del Tres Mil. Throughout the years, high profile guests have come to Careyes for tranquility and privacy.

Bohemian luxury best describes Tigre del Mar’s design aesthetic. Furnished with a casual elegance, the luxury villa features concrete flooring, intriguing art, and splashes of invigorating color. Every window has been cleverly designed to frame the landscape like a painting. The Main Palapa houses an expansive upper dining area and lower living room. The entire space is sheltered by a towering traditional Mexican palapa, the work of local craftspeople who skillfully built it with timber and hand-shaped leaves. This open-air living space spills out to a terrace and resort-like grounds.

In The Tower, you’ll discover six suites positioned around a spiral staircase. Take in panoramic views from each bedroom and relax on your private terrace in the evening to watch the sun dip into the ocean or see the stars fill up the night sky. Casa del Tres Mil houses two guest suites, in addition to an incredible screening room with floor-to-ceiling library stacks. The suites, located on opposing ends of Casa del Tres Mil, feature beds perched on raised platforms and accessed by stairs. With the white walls as a backdrop, surreal panoramic views of the ocean and jungle stand out.

An uncomplicated smooth concrete terrace jets out from the main palapa, and teak lounge chairs are dressed in white cushions. The beach villa has two swimming pools, one uniquely designed with tiles that absorb the sun by day and then glow incandescent by evening. Seating in the subterranean grotto makes a lovely spot to stargaze. A private beach is yours to enjoy, perhaps a horseback ride at sunset?
