The designers of this Riviera Maya accommodation have struck a delicate balance between elegant and laid-back interiors. Rustic elements like exposed rough-hewn beams, thatched roofs, and wicker contrast the crisp white walls and smooth stone surfaces. A less-is-more approach to the furnishings yields an uncomplicated style with floor-to-ceiling folding doors that open to an outside terrace where gentle breezes waft through the open spaces. The main living area, covered by a soaring palapa, features a cool teak seating area that hints at mid-century modern. Colorful local tapestries pop up throughout the property and add color to the crisp white-walled villa. At Puerto Estate, the nine bedrooms feature king-sized beds outfitted with soft linens, air conditioning, and tall windows. Most have spacious ensuite bathrooms – some even have Jacuzzi tubs and jungle-like outdoor showers. If a guest wants added privacy, one of the garden-view rooms is the answer with a private entrance. Unexpected treasures – think round bed in a cozy nook and repurposed antique architectural elements –add to the villa’s magic.
This luxury villa’s surroundings invite you to leave the fast-paced world behind and move into the slow lane. The beauty and tranquility of Puerto Estate’s surroundings are unmatched. There are many spots to steal away with a good book or just sit back and take in the fresh air and striking ocean views, as nothing stands between you and the blue-green waters of the Caribbean. An upper terrace off the villa houses round sofas, so you can gather for cocktails and conversation while soaking in the tropical oasis in front of you. You’re sure to spend many hours in the infinity-edged swimming pool and many evenings in the Jacuzzi, cerveza in hand. Shady palapas house hammocks, comfy lounge beds, and a dining table that makes you feel like you’re eating right on the beach. (Please note that although the beach is sandy, the access to the water is rocky. Water shoes are provided for guests, and other parts of the bay are perfect for swimming.)
One of the highlights of this Mexico villa is the impeccable service and easy-going attitude of its staff, who are attentive without being intrusive. The on-site chef creates menus that cater to your taste using fresh local ingredients, and the house bartender concocts drinks for you to sip in a hammock or enjoy poolside with housemade guacamole.
