Who knew how stunningly elegant a sustainable villa could be? Casa Bautista proves that modernism can be at one with the organic design of nature. This architectural beauty is nestled in the Sian Ka’an Biosphere, a Unesco World Heritage Site near Tulum and home to thousands of species of flora and fauna. The beachfront villa marries stylish with sustainable and sleeps up to 10 guests. Committed to protecting the environment, the owner of Casa Bautista embarked on a 6-year journey to develop the land, enlisting the expertise of a leading architect from Mexico City and leader of Pueblo del Sol, a project working with local indigenous communities. Steps from a secluded beach, this Mexico accommodation is a short drive to Tulum for sustainable shopping and authentic Yucatan cuisine.
Casa Bautista is a luminous living space created from eco-friendly building materials like concrete and wood. Earth tones and slatted wood ceilings soften the edges of hard concrete in this luxury villa. Simplicity and restraint reign supreme in this breezy, open floor plan. The kitchen, living and dining areas share one large space. The kitchen has modern appliances and a long breakfast island. A comfortable seating arrangement makes a great place to gather for cocktails, and the dining area with an eight-person round table invites you to share a meal with your guests. Giant louvered doors on either side of the common area frame views of the blue sea and towering palm trees.
Four serene bedrooms plus a studio-suite extend the theme of modern sustainability in the décor. The spaces are uncluttered and designed with wood, glass and organic furnishings. The peaceful master suite has an incredible open-air bathroom with shower and freestanding Jacuzzi and views overlooking the sea and jungle. A second king-bedded suite has a private bathroom, and the remaining king room shares a bathroom with the fourth bedroom, which has twin beds, making it ideal for a family. For added space and extra privacy, the studio has a double sofa-bed, flatscreen TV and private entrance. Each calming retreat offers private balconies, ceiling fans, air conditioning and Wi-Fi access.
Secluded in the verdant jungle, this luxury villa has many outdoor places to explore. Perched over white sand, a sizeable wood deck extends the common living area and houses a Jacuzzi, lounge chairs and a hanging rattan chair. In the open courtyard of this beach accommodation, a grand cement spiral staircase takes you to a spacious roof deck, outfitted with everything you need for a celebration. Lounge seating, an outdoor kitchen and table make it the perfect spot for alfresco dining under the stars. After dinner, take a refreshing dip in the swimming pool overlooking the turquoise Caribbean Sea.
Your stay at Casa Bautista includes housekeeping to ensure the villa is refreshed and tidy each day, and the house staff will prepare a simple breakfast daily for the cost of ingredients. Nothing says vacation more than waking up to the aroma of fresh coffee! If you don’t feel like cooking, enjoy chef-prepared meals for additional fee. You won’t have to lift a finger at this eco-friendly accommodation.
